What is the BMIOA?:

The "Blue Mountain International Ostrich Alliance", also known as BMIOA, is a "Commercial" Ostrich organization and is the first of its kind in the Ostrich industry. BMIOA operates as a subsidiary "arm" of Blue Mountain Feeds, Inc. & Blue Mountain International.

BMIOA is managed and operated as a "non-profit" commercial business entity with ALL of its funding going to Ostrich Research, Ostrich Studies, Ostrich non-proprietary Technology Transfer, and any other projects that will bring about a progressive industry and good communications between its members.

BMIOA is managed and operated as a "non-profit" commercial business entity by the executives of Blue Mountain Feeds, Inc. & Blue Mountain International. These companies are the sole owners of BMIOA and make the decisions on how BMIOA is operated and determine how the funds are to be spent that would be of the greatest service to its members and the Ostrich industry. However, member needs, desires and ideas are always considered with much intent and most welcomed as that effort is what makes the Alliance successful.

The BMIOA is an organization that operates mainly through the world-wide internet providing all its services to the membership around the world. BMIOA has no Board of Directors, Officers, Annual Meetings, Trade Fairs, or Overhead Expense. Someday that may all change, but for now, BMIOA is being managed as a "business" with all of its funding resources being funneled directly into projects that progress the Ostrich industry on behalf of its membership.

How is the BMIOA Funded?:

Funds to support the BMIOA effort come from the following sources:

-The majority of funding for BMIOA comes from contributions made by Blue Mountain Feeds, Inc. and Blue Mountain International. On each feed product sale to its customers, these entities contribute a portion of the profits to the BMIOA.

-Supplementary funding comes from membership fees paid by other farmers, individuals and commercial companies wanting to be a part of the BMIOA effort.

Note: 100% of BMIOA funding goes towards its Purpose and Goals of progressing the industry. There are NO administrative fees or operating expenses deducted from its funds. All expenses and administration costs are paid and performed by Blue Mountain Feeds, Inc. & Blue Mountain International as a service to the industry.

Why was the BMIOA created?:

There is a need within the Ostrich Industry to provide a method of communications, services, personal assistance and up-to-date information on the technical and social aspects of the industry.

There is a need to provide a medium whereby practical Research can be done, Scientific Research can be implemented, and certain Studies can be administered, and all done thoroughly and accurately with ALL things considered so as not to mislead the industry with misinterpreted data.

There is a need to provide "connections" within the industry so that the "like-minded" people around the world can work together establishing the same goals and STANDARDS throughout the industry. No other association has been able to do this effectively.

There is a need to provide the Ostrich Industry with information and STANDARDS that create "uniformity" in the industry world-wide so that the industry output is consistent, of good quality, and most desireable to our consumers.

There is a need, as an industry, to come to a realization that certain things within the industry can be "assumed" and that we have to correct those areas and then "move on" using a proven method in order to be able to PROGRESS the industry in an organized & consistent manner.

BMIOA was created to address ALL of these items and many more. It is not designed to replace or compete with any other State, National, Country, or International Association. Rather, it was created and designed to facilitate these organizations from a "commercial" industry point of view with direct "connections" to all aspects of the Ostrich Industry.

Summary of BMIOA:

BMIOA is managed and operated as a "non-profit" commercial business entity with ALL of its funding going to Ostrich Research, Ostrich Studies, Ostrich non-proprietary Technology Transfer, and any other projects that will bring about a progressive industry and good communications between its members. BMIOA is NOT a Ostrich Product Trading (selling) Organization!

The BMIOA will pass on Trade Inquiries for meat, skins, eggs and birds to its membership as they are received.
